Since the BBS seems to be back in the "useless" survey mode, here's one for you:

Who are/were the greatest tuba teachers of all time? Although this is obviously a very subjective topic, my personal criteria would basically be concerned with who taught the most students that achieved "success" - getting either playing or teaching gigs. My list (in order) would look like this:

1. Arnold Jacobs
2. Donald Knaub
3. Bill Bell
4. Harvey Phillips
5. Dan Perantoni
6. Sam Pilafian
7. Roger Bobo
8. Tommy Johnson
9. Joseph Novotny
10.Abe Torchinsky

There's obviously some cross-over here because many people have studied with more than one on the list.

What do you think?
