Lots of great players mentioned so far: Warren Deck, Mr. Jacobs, Floyd Cooley, Gene Pokorny, John Fletcher, Chester Schmitz, etc. But I've noticed one name that is conspicuously absent from everyone's lists...my favorite...Ellis Wean. Anyone who has not heard Ellis' playing need only pick up any of the Montreal Symphony recordings prior to 1990 (the Tchaik.4 and Prok. 5 are two of my favs). NO ONE makes a sound like him! And, if you can find it(its out of print), his American in Paris solo is phenomenal!!
