I have only played on the D. S. when trying out horns, so I can give a very informed opinion on that, but I own a Kalison Pro 2000 CC. . .
I have used this horn as my only instrument for the last three years. There are a few intonation quirks but these can be lipped and slide pulled. . . I have used this horn in Orchestral, Wind Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Tuba Quartet, and Solo work, I have been very happy with it. I've done works ranging from firebird and Alexander Nevsky to the "Effie Suite" and the Gregson concerto on it. It is a little more work than a smaller horn to solo on, but it has served me well anyway. The sound is very solid, I like the way I sound on it better than how I sounded on comparable 5-6/4 horns (like the 2165 and the neptune. . . ) The only horns I have liked better are the Willson 5/4 and the Nirshl York, but those are $10,000+ horns. Go with whatever horn you decide is best, but I think that for the price that the Kalison is a good way to go.
