I hope all went well at the hospital.
Even if surgery is necessary, there is hope. Apparently Bud Herseth was in an automobile accident very early in his career, losing several front teeth and severely slicing up his lips. Six weeks after the accident, after reconstructive surgery, he was back at the CSO. He said his lip felt totally numb for a while, but he played by sound, not feel. I doubt there is another trumpet player with better tone than Herseth.
