I think this is more an issue of the player's ability, not the horn's limitations. It may be true that the Cerveny piggy is not the most beautiful sounding instrument on the market, but generally speaking, the piggy gives a lot of bang for the buck, and it is capable of sounding great in most settings. In my experience, piggys are inexpensive, reasonably in tune and relatively easy to play. Check out the sound Craig Knox gets with the Center City Brass Quintet on his piggy.
