The 3F rim is basically as noted in the description — i.e., flatter that the standard rim. I don't have a Helleberg handy, but to the best
of my recollection, the Helleberg rim is painful — flat, narrow, and sharp. (I do have two very old Hellebergs and I can't
stand playing on either one of them.) The Deck 3F rim is "comfortably" flat. I have always preferred flatter rims — I find it to be and aid
to good articulation, and I think a flatter rim makes a more secure and comfortable interface with my mouth. (I would like to have the
3F rim a little narrower, though. I'm not a fan of wide rims.) The "bite" (i.e. inside edge) is not sharp, and overall I will tell you that
the Deck 3F is the most comfortable mouthpiece I have ever used. Hope this is helpful — email me if you want to discuss further....
