I agree, but then again if you go to the school board with an offer to GIVE them tubas in ANY key, that's what we'd all be playing :( I don't mean to poopoo financial realities in schools, but preparing the outstanding student for advanced study is an important objective. I think the idea someone mentioned of high-schools owning one or two CC tubas is an excellent one; then, maybe we could encourage a slow movement in the direction of CC over the next ten years or so (and we hobbyists could buy up the outdated BBb horns like we do the Eb ones now!) Seriously, I do think this is an excellent idea. I will be talking to our local band director about this very idea, and simultaneously talking to the school board members I know.
