I was lucky enough to go be in a good high school program that owned 2 Miraphone 186-4U CC tubas. I was very excited to get to learn the CC before I started H.S. My director was a euph player himself and recognized that students interested in persuing tuba beyond H.S. would be at an advantage if they knew CC. I knew the BB flat fingerings for the sousaphones in marching band and switching back and forth never was a problem. Unfortunatly the director that is at that school now does not use them because he says that they do no blend as well with all the other B flat instruments. Thats a sax player for you. (jk) If it wasn't for all the BB flat sousaphones out there I would think that many of the schools now would invest in CC tubas when they were buying new ones.
