Curtis is an amazing place, and a fantastic environment to develop musically, but the tuba instruction may be a little sub-par. You would do better at Julliard, Rice or Eastman, even if there would be some tuition to consider. If you are good enough to get into Curtis, you would probably get a fat scholarship from the other schools. Don't forget that most conservatories really mess with people's heads.

For schools in PA, check out Dusquene, or however you spell it, and Penn State. If you are looking more regional, James Madison in Va. has a great instructor, as does Rutgers in NJ.
