I've got an Endsley. I get the impression that Gerry will pretty much tweak the design of one in whatever direction you'd like. The thread is extenral, but I don't see much possibility for damage as it's pretty much out of the way for any direct contact if dropped.

My overall feeling is that while ACMs seem like a neat idea, the reality is that you'll probably end up like me, using a single depth setting where you've found the mouthpiece sounds best. This may be due to the fact that ACMs work by having a moveable funnel-shaped section traveling within a cylinder. The net result is that you get a mouthpiece that is very cylindrical when adjusted deep, unlike a traditional deep fixed-cup design.

Mouthpieces are sure fun to experiment with, but darn it all, I still find that I like a plain old Bach 18 the best for most things...
