Exactly! If you've ever worked out in a weight room you know that you first have to stretch, then do your workout , and then a warm down exercise. The muscle fibers for your mouth and whatever you work in the weight room have the same concept. The best way to work your range and take full advantage of it is to warm up really well and then "max out" on both high and low extremes. If a muscle is not stretched properly ( warmed up) then blood doesn't flow into the muscle very well, hurting both your range and endurance. Just do a lot of playing in the register you want to develop.
