A few things that may help:
1) when multiple tonguing keep the air moving. It is too easy to let the air slow down or stop between articulations (too-koo or toh-koh..if this feels awkward, try doo-goo or doh-goh). Try playing a long, sustained note and establishing a good sound then , while holding the note, begin to articulate. In other words, take something simple that works (long tone) and add something new too it (multiple-tongue).
2) Don't try to over-articulate. This will just cause the tongue to tense up and this will make your tonguing action sluggish.
I like the Arban book suggestion. The trombone book will work just fine and don't be in a hurry. Also, using a metronome will help keep you honest rhythmically.
