It's not a solo or ensemble, but Sam Pilafian recorded an album
called "Meltdown" with saxophonist Scott Zimmer and drummer John O'Reilly
Jr. It combines rock, jazz, and classical; I'm a jazzer and I really enjoy it
(but be forewarned, some of it is quite "out there").
