I was hired to play for an oratorio last year. It turned out they had hired musicians to cover only about half of the parts, then played a tape so loud the live orchestra could not be heard. They had us play, supposedly to add 'presence', but we were props, plain and simple. That audience was swindled, if you ask me. I don't remember ever being more humiliated.
