I use a DEG stand myself and it works pretty good for me. They are lightweight, the newer ones have been improved in design to be more durable, and DEG sells a nifty carrying case that is all velvet on the outside so it fits right into the bell safely. There are bunches of these things around so you might try and find someone who has one and ask to give it a whirl. Good luck!
