MG -

Do you study privately? If so then you and your teacher should be
working on this together. If not, find a teacher, take some lessons
and let him or her know what you want. A professional can advise you
much better on the direction you should be going (especially after
hearing you) than all of the great advice we BBS folks can. It sounds
like you are serious about getting a good horn yet your questions show
you don't know all you should about purchasing a horn, gig bag and mute.
A "good" salesman could have you out the door with a real lemon if you
don't have the guidance of a professional. I suggest finding "all" of
this out before you buy. A good horn will last you years (my B & S is
now 14 years old and looks almost new....hard case, gig bag that fits
it and T.L.C.) Also look for used vs. new. I found a BBb Kroner in our
local trade paper listed for $500. It had a couple small dents, was 30
years old and had a tremendous sound. I payed $450.00 for it. $6000 is
alot of money and if you're patient it could by you two great horns,
cases and mutes.

Anyway, thanks for indulging me. Good luck.
