Most of us do not play well when we are really nervous. What I suggest is run your music from top to bottom without stopping at least 3 times a day. Hopefully, you have a few weeks before your audition. If you only have a few days, do it every time you pick up the horn that day.

You can work on stuff AFTER you play all the way through. And when I mean don't stop, DON'T stop. For nothing--the phone, the dog barking, take the garbage out first, pee first. The reason you do this is to raise your "bad" playing level. All of us have a level of playing and on Gene Porkony's "bad" day, I'm betting he sounds pretty great. I'm also guessing that on your "best" day, you don't even come near Porkony's bad day.

Well, I hope you get what I mean.

Farah (can anyone else clarify??)
