I agree: T's books are great. Not only are they conveniant but his advice is always helpful. Why not learn the soli from Die Meistersinger Overture (Wagner) and the Fugue entrance in the 3rd movement of Mahler 1. Both of these Excerpts are accessable and showcase a variety of skills.
