Mr Jacobs told me about this. A student of his, Ron Apperson, had a lobe of a lung removed. Since Mr Jacobs did not have a large capacity, some how the word got out that it was Mr Jacobs who had a lung removed. Mr Apperson retired from the Hartford Symphony after a long career and is in good health. There are those who still think Mr Jacobs had one lung - hi did, one on the right and one on the left. Two lungs!
