As far as worn valve guides go, my understanding is that Boosey and Hawkes have not changed many things in the history of these instruments, and new ones (yes, they are plastic) should work fine. This is a quick repair at any repair shop.

Boosey apparently doesn't mark their horns for the model. Mine was called a "New Standard" by its seller, but it is indistinguishable from horns marked "Besson Imperial." Apparently, during the 70's any parts in the bin were likely to be used on any horn, so the details (such as the shape of the valve caps and finger buttons) aren't always helpful.
