A slur generally is a reference to slow/smooth-type slurred patterns. Flexibilities refer to fast/smooth-type slurred patterns. Speed, air-flow and rhythmic accuracy becomes the main issue for flexibilities and help overall playing immensely. Encore Music has a fine book on Flexibilities. They have a warm-up book which focusses on slow-slurs.
