A longer-lasting alternative to standard felts are the rubberized felts used by Besson. They are all about 1/8" thick, so some adjustment of the cork spacer and/or the connection between the button and stem, but these felts really resist compression over time. I got a set from Matt at Dillon's, if you can't find them locally.
