A practical approach: Take in and fill up your cheeks with water. Then push the water out while you sniff in air. If you can handle these two things at the very same time after some practice, then you can leave the water out and move on to the tuba. In the beginning the shift from "oral cavity air" to "nose air" will be like an explosion, a blast. The rest is refining and smoothin' out... Yep, I bet it takes a while...

I learned this principle from the brit tubist Steve Sykes, but have never taken the time to sort it out myself. Maybe some of the digeridoo guys can de-mystify their technique???
