This subject came up once before, and someone brought up the notion that it isn't necessarily good to remove *all* the resistance in a horn. That resistance is important to help notes speak, at least for mortals. If we design a horn with such open wrap and low-resistance valves, we might end up with a horn that is as hard to buzz as a bare mouthpiece. It seems to me that playing softly on a horn with such open-blowing characteristics might be difficult. There must be a balance in there somewhere.
