I own the Yamaha 381 5V Eb non-comp tuba. 4 pistion top action valves, a 5th rotory included WITHIN the 4th valve loop, so it acts like a trigger for low range intonation improvements. This way you don't have to finger the low notes 1/2 step lower.
I'm trying to decide between keeping this horn or my Besson 983 Eb. The two horns are similar -- the Besson has a darker sound, the Yamaha has a much more open low register. If I decide to sell the Yamaha: 1) I'll know by around 2/1/01, and 2) I've already been contacted by two interested parties. But I'll post it here if it becomes available.
