I have to agree with just about all that has been said so far. I play bass bone in jazz and tuba in band and orch. I have no emb/lip problems. Trumpet players will tell you that changing stuff like rim size (Jacobs said this too) can be a problem. However, the difference between a bass bone rim and a tuba rim is big enough so that the overlap is negligible, and it is simply like developing two separate sets of chops. The other option would be to have a bone mouthpiece custom made with your tuba rim, but I think in light of my previous statement, that would be overkill. Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. Only good things can come of it. Good luck!

P.S. On the bass bone topic, isn't C. Vernon doing something (performance-wise) at Northwestern in the coming weeks? If so, I'll be there!
