One of those fake leather (actually rubber) steering wheel covers you can get in the automative dept. at x-Mart works great. Comes in several colors including black, and you just wrap it around the bottom and lace it up. Sorry I don't have a picture, none of my current horns have this set-up. I did have a Yamaha with the 5th valve on the left hand, and I put a little steering wheel cover up on that branch where my left hand was while using the valve, it felt nice and kept my sweaty palm from slipping off the bare brass.
I guess you could put the stuff at an contact point to keep the lacquer from wearing off, and to provide a better grip.
