Mr. Jacobs preferred the York he recovered from the U of Oklahoma. Holton began producing it's "Yorks" in '58 or '59, and Mr. Jacobs put the first 5-valver through its paces at Ravinia. I believe it was this instrument he sold to Bob Tucci, who named it "Vesuvius II" which he had inscribed in a discreet location on the instrument. He took this horn with him on his Fulbright to Vienna and used it in the recordings of Walkure and Gotterdammerung in the Solti Ring. You can see him and it on the video documentary on London VHS. Later on he sold this horn to John Fletcher, who used it for the big orchestral pieces with the LSO. This horn was on the cover of the old PJBE "Just Brass".
