We all love Reveultas' music. He was true friend of the tuba. My question is this. Did he have a player who inspired him or did he write what he wanted and "heard" the tuba as the primary voice in that context. I know he lived from 1900-1940 and was Concertmaster, or at least a member of the 1st's, in the CSO from (AT)1921-1927 before he went back to Mexico. I also understand that he didn't start composing until the last ten years of his life. Given that his music is so well written in terms of the tuba, I am inclined to believe that he had an inspiration. I wonder if he was influenced by George Hamburg. Any ideas or conclusions? Thanks.

Chuck
