The horn I had in Chicago was the 1295 (12095 depending on where you look). This horn has mainly been changed in the area of the 5th valve. The 5th is now a flat first, and the way the tubing goes into the 5th has helped to open up the low end. I have to agree that this horn plays a lot like a 4/4, though if you look at it it looks like it might be more 5/4ish. You really have to play one of these and see what you like. Because of the valve set position, the slides that have been positioned on top are not that accessible. They do make this horn with a 1st valve trigger to help with this problem. (You didn't think I couldn't find something to complain about!)

On a side note, I played the prototype of the 1295 in Germany next to a 1290. The 1295 seemed to be a brighter sound...by quite a bit. I have a 1295 with a Goldbrass bell on order we'll see if it helps.

Take care, all!
