Safest way to transfer funds is by electronic funds transfer from their bank to yours. Failing that, a money order (or several money orders; they have pre-set limits) is the next safest thing. Third is a cashiers check then a certified check. Cash is a risky method from far away but great if you meet face to face. A personal check is out of the question.
