Actually, I have sent horns back to a tuba company that sent them out to me by air freight (air cargo section of an airport). Again, you can get cheap insurance and the cost is low (probably depends on the airport you are doing this from). I paid about 55 dollars (including some damage insurance). NEVER had any damage and this was done a couple of times each way. Maybe the air cargo guys KNOW how to handle stuff because people ship ALL sorts of things this way.
