John's right on here. Some runs of the St. Pete have had plating that peeled, showing brass underneath. And the 8D is indeed entirely nickel-silver (alias "German silver"; auf Deutsch: "Neusilber").
I've heard that Alexander will build a tuba in nickel-silver on special order and I've heard that at least one of their F/CC double instruments is so constructed.
