The two biggest differences affecting the sound of the horn that I've noticed are:

1- the Getzen has a much larger bell flare

2- the Conn has a much larger bottom bow

Exactly how those differences affect the sound, though, is pretty subjective, and I don't know if I could adequately put them into words. My best attempt would be to say that the larger bows result in a larger sound with "more core"(wasn't there a thread on this?), where the big bell flare results in a larger sound with more... err... well, Chuck's sound. Even though both horns are really similar, and very versatile, to me the Getzen is more suited for smaller ensembles and lighter repetoire, while the Conn is more suited for the heavier stuff, but both could still hold their own in just about any kind of setting.

Those are just my personal opinions, based on maybe 5 or so hours of playing experience on each of those horns.

cheers!

Anthony
