I have three of these european-style tuba stands.
What I like about them is they come in different sizes
and can be adjusted as well to very safely and snugly fit
your horn. I use these stands for keeping a tuba
"ready-to-grab" in my practice room, don't personally use them
at rehearsals or performances. During long rests in performances,
or breaks while practicing (botrh in rehearsal and at home) I use the bell.
At rehearsals during break, I find the most out-of-the-way-of-traffic
place to lay my tuba on it's side, NOT at foot-level.
That said, what I DO like about these stands (for me
it's worth the price) is having the horns off-the-bell
and ready-to-grab when I go in my practice room. Other people
are in the practice room, so off-the-bell helps them stay
safe from my wrath were I to find a footprint on a bell wreath,
and ready-to-grab makes it a lot easier to practice!
Sometimes the HARDEST thing in the world to do
is to take a horn out of a case!
Low Brass Werks in Campbell CA (408) 377 3493
sells these stands (like in the picture), the manufacturer is K&M.
Hope this helps.
