All other things being equal, I would go to the one that felt the most comfortable from a personality standpoint. If one of the section members in the band struck me as snobbish or a jerk, and nobody in the orchestra did, then I'd take the orchestra. And vice-versa. After all, you have to sit next to this person for a number of years; you might as well be able to tolerate their company.
