Still being available and getting a new one are two very different things. When I began seeking a new Getzen, I called everyone and nobody had a new one. They also told me it was doubtful that they would ever have a new one again because of decisions made by Getzen.
The story is basically that Getzen didn't generate that much profit off the sale of the G-50 tubas. The truth is that even with the price of tubas, student line instruments can be made faster and cheaper and sold at a price that provides the instrument makers with higher profit. This is the reason that I was told the G-50's were hard to get new.
You are quite lucky if you have found a new one.
