How is "antique" defined in the brass world? The word is flung around with abandon on eb*y, it got me thinking. I know that for cars, it's 25 years, for furnature it's 100 years. I figure you take the normal lifetime of an object and multiply by 5 - but that leads to the question of the average lifetime of a tuba. It seems 100 yrs is the most common use, but I'd hate to think of my tuba as a piece of furnature - I use it more than my sofa. (Then again, my flight case does comfortably seat a family of 5...)
