I think the nylon(?) rim PT carries an additional $40 or so on the price tag. I have a PT44 in full brass and also use one with the nylon rim. The feel is different, but I think the sound the same. Check the Custom Music website(shops, at the chisham.com home page ) The 36 is a good all around model(Is this the old "1"? Semi-old timers help me out here). The 42, I'm sure you've noticed is very funnel shaped. I think I got rid of my 42 because it didn't do what I wanted in the high range. This cannot be confirmed , as I am not known for sticking with one model of mouthpiece for very long at all!
