i'm a big st pete fan. i've had mine for 2 years and while the valves aren't as fast or smooth as other tubas i've played on, it really doesn't matter for most people. there are few times when a tuba player will need to play fast enough for it to matter. and actually if you take care of the valves and oil them properly they'll play almost anything. as for them easily denting...well they're only a thin piece of metal if you treat them like crap of course they're going to dent. i've taken care of mine and i have no dents at all(that i put there. one dent is in the bell from shipping) i do agree that they dont make the best horns for a high school to buy because most kids are just plain stupid and will treat them badly. if you take care of a st pete it'll take care of you.
