For one thing, if the magnet has a keeper, its external magnetic strength is greatly reduced.

For another, magnetic strength drops off drastically with distance.

That means that the observable strength outside the box will be small. It also means that the strength will be much smaller than 100 lbs when the parts are separated by a thickness of brass belonging to a tuba.

If you want funny antics, put a big spinning gyroscope into a suitcase and ask a bellhop to sling it out of the trunk of your car.
