This topic has sort of bbeen bbeaten (!!!) to death by myself and others bboth here and on TubaEuph, bbut to summarize the bbeating and bbleating:
There exists more than one historical system for assigning octave names to letters (ref Groves online, etc., etc.)
BBy what I personally like to think of as the most ccommon, a CC tuba is indeed a C tuba and the others are ccorrectly named, including the Bb euphonium, bbbut there is a precedent for calling it a CC in which case a BBb would bbbe a BBBb and an F an FF and an Eb an EEb and the Euphonium a BBb
(And the monster BBBb at Harvard would bbbbe a BBBBb)
However, we all sort of know what we're talking about - at least in this limited regard - so no harm done, right?
