The times that I have something that resembles that which you describe usually ends up as a cold sore or fever blister. I usually attack it with some kind of medicine made for that purpose. BTW, there are many opinions concerning the best medicine for cold sores. Not trying to open that can of worms. The last time I did this was the christmas season 2 years ago, and I was able to fight the appearance of the cold sore on the surface of my llips. I was able to play tuba through 2 christmas cantatas.
