My most effective use of morning playing time is the spending this time doing the daily ritual type playing. As soon as my wife leaves for work I spend about an hour doing longtones, lip slurs, scales, and technical studies that I already know. I rarely use this time to learn something new. During the day I work on new material or music for upcoming performances in short little sessions of 20-30 minutes. I try to get in 2 or 3 of these little sessions every day.

I always do my morning practice/ warm-up on CC tuba. The later sessions are usually on F tuba.

In short, I don't have any physical problems with morning playing, just mental problems. The consistency of playing every morning has really improved my playing.
