In my opinion the YFB-822 is a good, large F tuba. It's low register, especially the low CC note, is pretty solid. I'm not sure how the 45SLP compares, so you should check out that "typical issue" for yourself.
However, the 822 seems to me to fill the role of a bass tuba that sounds and plays much like a contrabass. If you want a distinct difference between your contrabass horn and your bass tuba, you may not find it with the 822.
