The first tuba I ever played was a King 3v sousaphone. I was a sophomore in high school. The school owned an ancient silver Miraphone BBb 186, but I ddidn't get to play it until my junior year. The 4th valve key broke off when I was playing it and the school was too cheap to get it fixed. Years later, I found the broken key in a box of my stuff and I still have it.
