I have seen a Besson 4-valve original compensating CC at Dillon's, (it may still be there). It did not look like a BBb that had been cut, (at the factory or elsewhere). I mean to say that it seemed to be formed from completely different mandrels than the standard BBb. It seemed to be a great horn for a CC player to use to "fit in" in a British brass band, (transpositions aside)! The one I saw played quite nicely.
