I'm currently learning Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen's tuba concerto. Definately worth wile; terribly hard both technically and musically, but very rewarding. I hope to perform it in May, but there seem to be some logistical problems. There's no piano reduction and on enquiring about score and orchestral parts the publisher doesn't make sense in their replies. But I've been in touch with the composer and I hope to get things sorted out soon.

on saturday, however, I'm playing with the RNCM Symphony Orchestra (Manchester, England) a late 20th century orchestral piece called Charivari, by Hans Karl Gruber (conducted by the composer). Absolutely fabulous tuba part: very few rests, and several long solos. Great fun, if any of you have a chance to play it sometime!
