Of course you wouldn't, and nobody would expect anything but an honest answer from Dale. But Dale, who is not normally what one might call an excessively sensitive guy, seems to be shying away, and I was offering one POSSIBLE explanation.
I do seem to recall his salesman friend coming close to departing this forum (and I don't see much from him these days in any case, which is a pity) after taking some of the abuse of which I speak, and I've heard some fairly harsh words aimed at Mr. Phelps for being more loyal to his friend that some folks think is seemly.
Of course, we are both pretty far adrift. The original poster wanted to know why so many people had F tubas for sale, and even dp's response wasn't exactly an answer to that question. But that is the way of things--conversations sometimes take unexpected turns.
