Thanks for the question. As I said in my previous post, I was ONLY able to try 2 bright silver horns. (one was a 52J and the other a 56J) I liked the bright 52J over the bright 56J. But I was planning on getting the 56J because of the larger bell. When I compared the bright 56J with the satins, I noticed a big difference. The satins seemed to have a great dark sound, but the bright silver sounded bright and didn't have the same warmth and resonance. This was the experience of one guy...on one day.

I know a guy in Massachusetts who plays with one of their orchestras who purchased a bright silver 56J. He and I have discussed how much we LOVE our Conn horns, but he found that he prefered the bright silver one better. So...in the end...to each their own.
